Sichuan earthquake update.
China Earthquake Response

On Monday afternoon a magnitude 7.9 earthquake hit southwestern China. The death toll is now above 12,000 and continuing to rise with over 26,000 injured, and thousands still missing and trapped beneath the debris. Aftershocks are continuing to hit the area regularly.

Greetings from Thailand

Greetings from Northern Thailand. I have the privilege of traveling in Asia for the month of May, stopping in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. Since being here, two major disasters have hit the region. First the cyclone that has devastated Burma (Myanmar) and the massive earthquake in China.

Toronto Argonauts Bus Trip

 October 12th, another successful Asian Outreach fundraiser. 50 people on a bus , teens, parents , and yes even grandparents were in attendance to watch the home town Toronto Argonauts defeat their arch nemisis Montreal Allouettes.

Dengue Fever Epidemic

Hospital resources are stretched thin across Cambodia by an explosive Dengue Fever outbreak that has surpassed epidemic proportions. Fatalities have eclipsed previous years and the death toll is rising daily, with over 6,000 cases reported by the end of May.

Cambodia: Project Homecare Helps Father Get Back on His Feet

Ahi is married with two children, both he and his wife are HIV+ as is their youngest son. They were the first patients who joined Project Homecare (PHC) when our program started in 2004, not long after Ahi’s wife died of AIDS in mid 2005, leaving two children behind for Ahi to look after.

The Need is Just Everywhere

Life - A team of five Peterborough County EMS paramedics went on a two-week humanitarian trip to Cambodia, working with Asian Outreach International and the Cambodian Ministry of Health. The paramedics travelled to three villages to train people in basic first aid. Here is an account by Mark Cameron, one of the team members. Since coming back members of the team are already working on plans to go back on what may be an annual paramedics team to Cambodia. Thanks Guys! Your investment does make a difference.
